Vontovorona

El camí que fem per anar del centre d’acollida Yamuna a l’escola de Mandrosoa és un barri de Vontovorona. Les següents imatges mostren l’activitat que es viu diàriament en aquest indret. Tot i així, se’ns fa impossible mostrar-vos el que els nostres ulls perceben en tot moment.

The little village that we walk through to go from Yamuna’s children center to the Mondrosoa school is called Vontovorona. The following images show the daily activity in the small town. Unfortunately, it is impossible to show you what our eyes see every moment. 

Cada tarda, els nens i les nenes van a buscar aigua amb bidons i galledes. 

 Every afternoon, boys and girls go to collect water with jerry cans and buckets.

La majoria de les cases són fetes amb palla i amb el fang vermell que caracteritza la zona.  

Most of the houses are made of straw and the red clay that characterizes the area.

Dones amunt i avall amb cabassos al cap transporten constantment queviures o robes.

Women constantly walk up and down with baskets on their heads carrying food or clothes.

Oques passegen pels canals que reguen els camps d’arròs. Les oques són habituals en aquest país, segurament degut a la influència francesa.  

 Geese wander the canals that irrigated the rice fields. The geese are common in this country, probably due to French influence.

El zebú és l’animal més característic de Madagascar. S’utilitza per llaurar, per transportar aliments i mercaderia, i a més a més, la major part de la carn que es menja prové d’aquest animal. Tenir un zebú és símbol de riquesa.  

Zebú is the most characteristic animal of Madagascar. It is used to plow, to transport food and goods, and moreover, most of the Madagascar’s meat comes from this animal. Having a zebu is a symbol of wealth.

Canalla jugant amb aquestes terres vermelles és una imatge habitual.  

Children playing with this red earth is a common sight to see. 

Les dones i les nenes s’encarreguen de rentar la roba de tota la família. Després l’estenen sobre les mates properes.  

Women and girls are responsible for washing clothes for the whole family. Later on, they extend the clothes on the bushes nearby.

Aquest petit barri està envoltat de grans i verds camps d’arròs.  

This small neighborhood is surrounded by large and green rice fields.

Aquesta petjada és una de les moltes que es poden trobar pels camins de Vontovorona. This footprint is one of many that can be found on the roads of Vontovorona.

Enmig dels camps d’arròs s’hi poden trobar forns per coure els totxos que fan amb fang; evidentment amb un motlle de fusta i a mà. Les dones són les encarregades de transportar els totxos al poble una vegada són cuits. 

 In the midst of the rice fields it can be found ovens to bake the bricks that are made with mud. Obviously, they are made with a wooden mold and by hand. Women are in charge of transporting bricks to the town once they are cooked.

Moltes famílies tenen una petita parada davant de casa per vendre-hi un grapat de tomàquets, pastanagues, ous o fruits secs.  

Many families use a table outside of their houses to sell some tomatoes, carrots, eggs and nuts.

La feina avança / The work progresses

Després de sis dies de formació, avui dijous dia 1 de setembre hem tancat el curs del qual n’estem molt satisfetes. Han estat sis jornades on hem pogut compartir diferents activitats. Hem après cançons, contes, poesies i fins i tot hem pogut descobrir que donant una volta pel “potager” (hort) també podem aprendre els noms de les llegums, fruites i verdures, fent d’aquesta activitat un aprenentatge més divertit pels nens i per les nenes. S’han pogut completar les activitats tot fent diversos treballs artístics i creatius utilitzant material del seu entorn.

After six days of teacher training, today, Thursday September 1st, we closed the course of which we are very satisfied. Six days that we could share different activities. We have learned songs, stories, and poems, and even we have found that doing a tour of the “potager” (kitchen market) we can also learn the names of vegetables and fruits, making this activity a funny way to learn new concepts for children. We have completed all these activities by doing various creative and artistic works using material from its environment.

El contingut de les sessions s’ha basat en diferents aspectes: com explicar contes, com fer el tractament de la poesia a l’aula, com ser una bona mestre, manipulació de diferents materials per treballar les matemàtiques, diverses activitats i estratègies per treballar la lectura i l’escriptura a partir del nom propi dels alumnes, etc. En algunes ocasions als participants se’ls ha suggerit de fer el paper de nens i nenes, i en altres moments de mestre. Ha estat divertit! 


The content of the training sessions was based on different aspects: how to tell stories, how to do the treatment of poetry in the classroom, how to be a good teacher, handling of different materials to learn math, activities and strategies to learn reading and writing from the students’ name, etc. Sometimes the participants were suggested to do the role of children, and at other times of teacher. It was fun!

 

 

 

En acabar aquesta formació la Hanitra i el Davida han fet un petit discurs com a tancament del curs. A continuació se’ls ha donat a cadascun dels participants un diploma que han recollit personalment amb molta il·lusió. Per finalitzar d’una manera simpàtica, hem cantat i ballat el “Bugui-Bugui” i hem berenat una bona coca, made in Cheff Mercè, xocolata del Shoprite i begudes que ha portat la Hanitra. 

At the end of this training, Hanitra and Davida made a little speech to close the course. Then, they gave to each participant a certificate. The participants have collected them very excited. To finish the course in a nice way, we sang and danced the Catalan song “Bugui-Bugui” and we have eaten a cake (made in Cheff Mercè), chocolate and some drinks.

Ara ens resta encara una bona feina! Reflexionar sobre la metodologia, organitzar, planificar, preparar les aules, buscar el material adequat. Tot això juntament amb les mestres responsables de l’escola de Mandrosoa, a Vontovorona, per poder iniciar el curs amb normalitat el més aviat possible.  

Now, there is still a lot of work to do! Reflect on the methodology, organize, plan, prepare the classroom with the appropriate material, etc. All of these along with the teachers responsible for the school Mandrosoa, in Vontovorona, in order to start the school as soon as possible.

Primer cap de setmana a Madagascar / Our first weekend in Madagascar

El dissabte la Mercè ens va acompanyar al centre d’acollida “Akany Avoko”, on ella hi col·labora amb els nens petits. Vam poder donar els biberons, jugar i cantar cançons amb els infants del centre. Es palpa una bona feina i sobretot una bona organització. Hi havia una nena recent nascuda, d’un mes i mig, que estava embolicada amb diverses mantes fent així d’incubadora. Aquest mètode els hi funciona per protegir bé els bebès recent nascuts. Aquests dies estan construint per ampliar el centre, ja que així els nens petits tindran més espai per jugar. 

On Saturday, we went to the children center called “Akany Avoko” with Mercè, where she collaborates being the responsible of the children who are living. We were playing, giving the feeding bootle and singing songs with the youngest children. We observed a good work and a great organization. There was a baby borned one month ago who was covered with big blankets which are used as an incubator. These days they are constructing a new infrastructure at the center to increase the space where the children can play.

El diumenge vam tenir la oportunitat de visitar Rova Ambohimanga, el palau reial que està al turó blau (Colline Bleue) El 2001 la Unesco va declarar aquest turó el símbol més significatiu de la identitat cultural del poble de Madagascar, el qual es situa a 21 km al nord d’Antananarivo (Tana). 

On Sunday, we had the opportunity to visit Rova Ambohimaga, the Royal palace that is situated at the blue hill. In 2011 Unesco considers that hill the most significant symbol of the Madagascar’s cultural identity, which is situated on 21 km to the north of Antananarivo (Tana).

  

Després vam dinar al Grill de Rova. S’hi pot veure tota la vista de la ciutat de Tana. Mentre dinàvem uns músics tocaven música típica Malgaix.  

Later on, we went to Grill de Rova where we had lunch. There it is possible to see the whole city of Tana, an amazing view. While we were at that restaurant, musicians were playing typical Malgasy music. 

 

A la tarda vam anar al mercat artesanal anomenat “Marché Artisanale de La Digue”. Els artesans malgaixes venen els seus productes en aquest mercat, el qual és un dels mercats més turístics de la ciutat. És imprescindible regatejar els preus dels productes, ja que és una cosa habitual del país. Inclús ells mateixos t’ho demanen. 

In the afternoon, we went to an artisanal market called “Marché Artisanale de La Digue”. The Malgasy artisans sell their products in that market, which is the most touristic one. It is indispensable to bargain the prices of the products till the half, since it is something really habitual in this country.
