Comencem la formació als mestres / We start the teachers’ training sessions

Ha arribar el dia esperat; el primer dia del curs de formació. Ens hem llevat a les 7.00 i a les 7.45 ens ha recollit la Hanitra per anar a buscar una intèrpret, la Mi, una noia que parla francès, malgaix i espanyol i ens ajudarà a tenir una millor comunicació amb alguns dels assistents que parlen habitualment el malgaix. Totes hem anat cap a Vontovorona. De camí, la Hanitra ens ha explicat que ha somiat amb l’escola dels infants. Això demostra la il·lusió que li fa tirar endavant aquest projecte.

Quan hem arribat al centre d’acollida, els nens i les nenes de Yamuna estaven al pati. Uns jugant a pedretes, altres a cartes, dues nenes es feien les trenetes del cabell i es pentinaven, un nen netejava la roba, dos nens estaven enfilats a les xanques que ells mateixos s’havien construït i altres es rentaven el cabell sota l’aigua. Els més petits estaven jugant al pati de la llar d’infants, sempre amb els ulls ben oberts observant la imparable activitat del centre.

The important day has arrived, the first day of the teacher’s training sessions. We wake up at 7.00 and at 7.45 Hanitra picked us up. We went to pick the interpreter up, called Mi, a girl that talks French, Malgasy and Spanish and who will help to have a better communication with some of the participants that talk normally in Malgasy. We went to Vontovorona and on the way, Hanitra explained us that she has dreamt with the children school. This means the excitement that she has to realize this project.

When we arrived at Yamuna’s children center, the girls and boys were outside. Some were playing with little stones, some playing with cards, two girls were combing their hair and creating their tresses, a boy was cleaning some clothes, and others were cleaning themselves with water and soap. The youngest children were playing outside at the kindergarden always with their eyes open to follow all the abundant activity that the center has.

 

 

 

 

 

Hem anat caminant cap a les aules, on ja ens hi esperaven gairebé tots els participants del curs. Estaven tots assentats a les taules, parlant en veu baixa i esperant impacients que arribéssim. A les 9.00 hem començat la classe. La Hanitra ha explicat el programa de la formació. Tot fent una activitat amb els noms propis dels participants, ens hem pogut conèixer millor. Amb aquesta activitat s’intenta mostrar una de les maneres de rebre els infants a l’escola. Hem explicat el conte de la ¨Tante Marie¨ i tots ells han participat fent després un joc de rol. També hem explicat el conte de “La Navet” i el conte de “La Minette”, a partir del qual han creat una Minette per cadascú a partir de globus. Finalment, hem après una cançó que ens ha ensenyat la Tahina per dir-nos tots plegats bon dia abans de començar les jornades.

We went walking to the room, where the attendants were already waiting us. All of them were sitting on their chairs and talking lowly. At 9.00 we started the session. Hanitra has explained the program of the training sessions. By doing an activity with the names of the attendants, we got to know each other better. By realizing this activity, we tried to show how to receive the children at the school. We explained the “Tante Marie” story and they have participated by being the character of the story. Also we explained the story of “Le Navet” and the story about “La Minette”, with which they created a Minette by themselves with balloons. Finally, we learned a song that Tahina teach us and we will sing that song every day before the sessions.

 

 

Les sessions als professors duraran 6 dies de 9.00 a 16.00, amb una pausa de 12.00 a 13.00 per dinar i tornar a agafar forces. Els dies que fa bon temps, com avui, mengem a fora, fent un pícnic i cantem una cançó per beneir els aliments abans de menjar. El dinar ens el porten camps a través les dones que treballen a la cuina del centre d’acollida, com podeu veure a la foto. Cada dia es realitzaran diferents activitats perquè els participants del curs educatiu aprenguin diverses formes d’ensenyar, de cooperar i de motivar als infants. 

The training sessions last six days from 9.00 until 16.00, with a pause from 12.00 to 13.00 because we have lunch. When the weather is good like today, we eat outside, like a picnic and we sing a song before to eat to bless the food. The women who work at the kitchen of Yamuna bring us the food before the lunch, as you can see at the photo. Every day we will realize different activities because the attendants of the education course learn different ways to teach, to cooperate and to motivate the children.

 

 

D’una sala buida a una aula d’escola / An empty room becomes a classroom

Després de reunions, d’organització i de preparació pel desenvolupament de les sessions de formació que es duran a terme amb els possibles professors de les aules d’educació infantil com a inici d’una escola a Vontovorona, ha arribat el moment de dir en veu alta: “mans a l’obra”!

After some meetings to organize and prepare the development of the teacher’s training sessions, which will be with the possible future teachers of the new school of Vontovorona, it has arrived the moment to say clearly: “let’s start working”!

 

Primer de tot, necessitàvem portar el material didàctic que havíem fet arribar al centre d’acollida cap a les aules on es faria la formació i on serà la futura escola. No és possible arribar a les aules amb el cotxe, ja que estan envoltades de camps d’arròs i petits camins. Així doncs s’han ofert alguns adolescents de Yamuna, els quals viuen al centre d’acollida, a ajudar-nos a portar les maletes amb tot el material a les aules. Ells contents s’han carregat les bosses i hem anat tots junts un darrera l’altre com una filera de formigues creuant els camps d’arròs. Això sí “moramora”, com diuen ells, que significa “a poc a poc”. 

Firstly, we had to bring the whole didactic material, which was at Yamuna’s children center, to the room where the training session will take place and where will be the future school. It is not possible to arrive by car, since they are situated around rise’s fields and little paths. Therefore, some teenagers of Yamuna, who live in the place where the association Yamuna is helping the children, helped us to bring all the material to the school. They happily took the stuff and we went together in a single line to cross the rise fields. However, “moramora”, like they say, what means “slowly slowly”.

Amb l’ajuda de la Hanitra, el Davida i dos ajudants del poble, hem començat a organitzar l’aula tot distribuint el material didàctic, la major part del qual ens ha ajudat a plastificar la nostra amiga Rosa que ens ha deixat fa pocs dies. Des d’aquí pensem amb ella i li agraïm la seva col·laboració. 

Mentre uns netegen els prestatges, altres ordenen les diverses activitats en diferents seccions així com els poemes, els contes, les cançons, les matemàtiques i la llengua. També hem ordenat el material necessari per a la classe: retoladors, tisores, punxons, plastilina de tots colors, titelles, puzles, jocs didàctics, etc. Hem guardat el material que serà per als professors com els retoladors permanents i el Blu-Tack. La Hanitra i el Davida ens han ajudat a crear les cartolines per penjar a la paret en francès, així com el calendari, les possibles tasques dels nens i el temps que fa cada dia. 

With the help of Hanitra, Davida and two men of the town, we started to organize the room by distributing the didactic material, the major part of which was arranged by our friend Rosa who has left us some days ago. We think about her and we want to thank her collaboration.

While some clean the bookcase, others arrange the different activities in different sections such as poems, stories, songs, math, and language. Also, we organize the material which is necessary for the lessons: scissors, pens, pencils, colors, puzzles, didactics games, etc. Hanitra and Davida have helped us to create some posters in French for the wall, such as the calendar, the possible tasks for the children, and the weather.

Ha sigut un moment molt emotiu. D’una sala buida s’ha convertit en una aula escolar decorada amb molt material per ensenyar als nens i nenes tot allò necessari per tenir una bona educació. La Hanitra i el Davida participaran a totes les sessions que puguin perquè són els responsables del funcionament de l’escola. Aquest petit esforç educatiu es pot convertir en un possible millor futur pels nens i nenes del centre de Yamuna i de Vontovorona. 

It has been a really emotional moment. An empty room has become a decorated classroom with a lot of material to teach the children all the necessary stuff to have a good education. Hanitra and Davida will attend all the possible training sessions because they are the responsible people of the school’s running. This little effort could become a better future for the children of Yamuna and the children from Vontovorona.

 

Primera jornada / The first day

L’arribada a l’aeroport d’Antananarivo, la capital de Madagascar, va ser a l’hora prevista. Ens esperava el taxista per portar-nos directament a casa la Mercè, on ens allotjarem durant tota l’estada al país. La vitalitat i la rialla de la Mercè ens va acollir fent-nos sentir com a casa.

De bon matí la Hanitra Ralaitafika, directora del centre, ens esperava a la porta de casa per anar a Vontovorona on s’hi ubica Tsinjo, centre d’Accueil et Formation de l’associació Yamuna d’ajuda als infants. Primerament la Hanitra, molt amablement, ens ha portat al banc per canviar Euros per Ariarys (la moneda de Madagascar) i a un supermercat per comprar quatre cosetes de subsistència. 

Per arribar al centre d’acollida cal travessar un barri perifèric d’Antananarivo. S’observa quantitat d’homes, dones, nens i nenes malgaixs que estan a banda i banda del carrer, i sorprèn la gran activitat que viu la ciutat diàriament. Els homes transportant carretons plens de gent amb els peus descalços, les dones amb quilos de mercaderia al cap i els seus nadons penjats a l’esquena embolicats amb un mocador, els nens i les nenes jugant amb cotxets fets de llaunes o amb els germanets més petits, dels quals sembla que en són els responsables, dones netejant roba a la vora del riu, homes i dones venent diferents productes a les seves paradetes com ara verdura, fruita, carn, flors i roba.

We arrived on time at the airport of Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar. We went directly by taxi to Mercè´s house, where we will stay during this period in the island. The vitality and the smile of Mercè made us to feel like home.

In the morning, Hanitra Ralaitafika, director of the center, was waiting for us at the entrance to go to Vontovorona where is Tsinjo, the place where the association Yamuna is helping the children. Firstly Hanitra, very kindly, drove us to the bank to change Euros for Ariarys (the currency of Madagascar) and to a supermarket to buy water and some food.

We had to drive through Antananarivo before to arrive to Yamuna. We saw Malgasy’ men, women and children that were in the street and we were surprised by the amount of activities that this city has daily. Men transport people by rickshaw barefoot, women carry kilos of stuff on their heads and their babies on their back by handing them with a ¨lamba¨, the children play with little cars created being recycled material and they look after their little brothers and sisters, women clean the clothes next to the river, men and women sell different products in their little shops such as vegetables, fruit, meat, flowers and clothes. 

 

                                     

Després d’observar intensament les persones, els animals, els carros, els camps d’arròs, els forns actius on s’hi couen maons que s’utilitzen actualment per fer les cases tot i que moltes encara es construeixen amb fang i palla, els horts d’on els malgaix aconsegueixen aliments per a tota la família,... arribem a Vontovorona.

La primera jornada al centre d’acollida de Vontovorona ha estat agradable i distesa, ens ha acompanyat en tot moment la Hanitra. Primer hem anat als tallers artesanals on hi treballen una vintena de dones. Elaboren diferents objectes de cistelleria, brodats i altres productes artesanals que es poden comprar també a la botiga de Yamuna a Barcelona. Es percep la bona organització i treball que estan portant a terme el grup de dones, i sobretot la gestió que hi fa la Hanitra i el personal de Yamuna. Hem passejat per les diferents feixes de conreus, de les quals se’n treu els principals aliments per tot el personal i els nens i nenes del centre d’acollida. Hi conreuen mongeta tendre, pèsols, tomàquets, pastanagues i enciams.

After observe the people, the animals, the rickshaws, the rise fields, the artisanal brick manifactury, the kitchen garden where the people malgaixes get food for all their family,... we arrive in Vontovorona.

The first day at Yamuna in Vontovorona was really interesting, Hanitra was with us during the whole day. Firstly, we went to the artesanal workplace where approximatly twenty women are working. They elaborate diferent artisanal´s objects for sale in the shop of Yamuna in Barcelona. We perceive the good organization and the hard work of the women as well as the great supervisation of Haitra and the staff of Yamuna. We walked around the kitchen market, from where staff and children of Yamuna get their food. They have tomatoes, carrots, beans and peas.

A continuació, hem entrat al centre d’acollida Tsinjo i hem conegut tot el personal que s’encarrega del seu funcionament. Hem visitat les diferents estances: el menjador, la cuina i les habitacions dels nens i de les nenes amb les lliteres pintades del color que els nens prèviament han triat (rosa, que l’amor si posa, per les nenes i vermell, color de foc, pels nens). A la llar d’infants, anomenada Crèche en Malgaix, hem pres contacte amb els primers nens i nenes i ja hem cantat les primeres moixaines. La Hadassah, la més petitona de 6 mesos, ens va rebre plorant perquè era el seu primer dia a l’escola. Els més grans dormien com troncs a dins disposats en dos llits grans mentre els petits jugaven alegrament a fora a sobre una estora. 

Then, we went to the children center Tsinjo and we introduce ourselves to the staff in charge. We visited the diferent parts of the center: the dining room, the kitchen and the bedrooms of the children with bed coloured by their choice (rose for girls and red for boys). In the kindergarden, called Crèche in Malgasy, we had the first contact with children and we sang together some songs. Hadassah, six month old, the youngest child of the center, was crying because it was her first day at the school. The oldest children were sleeping in two beds while the youngest were outside playing happily.

Hem dinat amb alguns dels responsables del centre mentre els nens i nenes més grans miraven una pel·lícula. Aquests dies al ser vacances escolars el nombre de nens en el centre és menor que la setantena que hi ha habitualment. Tot i així, aquests dies hi ha una trentena de nens i nenes aproximadament de 0 a 17 anys.

We ate with some staff responsible of the center while the oldest children were watching a movie. These days are holidays, therefore, the number of children is smaller than the seventy children that the center normally has. However, these days there are approximately thirty boys and girls between 0 and 17 years.

A la tarda hem anat amb el Davida Herijaona, coordinador pedagògic del centre, a visitar les estances que seran la futura escola i on hi farem la formació dels possibles mestres. Per arribar-hi hem caminat i travessat els camps d’arròs vorejant els seus perímetres quadriculats fets de fang relliscós de terres vermelles. Segur que algun dia ens hi ¨fotarem¨ de cap! Hem acabat la jornada organitzant el material didàctic que utilitzarem per a la formació. 

Ens esperava un bon sopar de Romazava, el típic menjar malgaix fet de carn de porc, de bou, gingebre, ceba, all i una verdura típica d’aquí, el..... acompanyat d’una crema de cacauet que la Neus ja té ganes de fer quan arribi a casa. Boníssim!!!!
 

In the afternoon, we went with Davida Herijaona, pedagogic coordinator of the center, to visit the future location of the school, where we will train some teachers. To arrive there, we walked across a town and along rise fields. We will step down in to water for sure! We finished the day by organizing the didactic material that we will use during the training of potential teachers. 

Finally, we had a great dinner with Romazava, the typical dish of Madagascar which is made of beef, onions and the typical vegetable like spinach. It was amazing!!!

Descripció del projecte / Project description

L’objectiu del projecte és posar en funcionament dues aules d’educació infantil per a nens i nenes de 3 a 5 anys a Vontovorona de Madagascar. Aquesta escola pretén ser la continuïtat de la llar d’infants ja existent. El parvulari forma part d’un programa més ampli, “Centre Educatiu i Esportiu”, que oferirà suport escolar i posarà a l’abast dels nens i de les nenes del barri, activitats artístiques i esportives (http://www.yamuna.org/index.php?page=guesthouse&hl=CA). D’aquesta manera s’escolaritzarà els infants que viuen en el centre d’acollida de menors, Tsinjo, creat per Yamuna, i també els nens i les nenes de famílies en situació de risc i marginació del barri de Vontovorona.

En aquest projecte tractarem bàsicament els següents aspectes:

1. Organització i habilitació de les aules: espai, horaris, ...
2. Oferir material pedagògic per poder treballar amb els infants.
3. Formació al personal educador o futurs mestres de les aules d’educació infantil.
4. Iniciació del funcionament de les aules amb els alumnes.
5. Seguiment dels mestres a les aules. 
   
   
   
   

   The aim of the project is to put in process a school´s children eduaction with two classrooms for boys and girls between 3 and 5 years old in Vontovorona, Madagascar, which faces a lack of education. The school’s goal is to become the continuation of the existing nursery (0-2 years old). In this way, the children who live at the childcare center, Tsinjo, created by Yamuna and poor children and children at risk from Vontovorona will be schooled.

   The project is based basically on the following five aspects:

   
   

   1.       Organize the classrooms: space, schedules,…

   2.       Provide educational material.

   3.       Teach the future teachers of the school´s children education.

   4.       Start the lessons with the children.

   5.       Help and support the teachers during those lessons.
